Taraji P. Henson Reunites With Empire Co-Star & Director In New Crime Miniseries

Flight Night will feature Taraji P. Henson

The limited series Fight Night features Taraji P. Henson, who previously acted as her co-star in the show Empire from 2015 to 2020. The musical drama unfolds around the Lyon family, who own a prominent hip-hop record label called Empire Entertainment, and the succession feud that arises after Lucious Lyon, their son, and CEO, was diagnosed with objective cancer.

The story tells of this conflict. Lucious was played by Terrence Howard, and Henson, Bryshere Y. Gray, Jussie Smollett, and Trai Byers were cast as the other members of the Lyon family in the show’s production.

The upcoming Peacock limited series Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist will feature Henson, who played Cookie, Lucious’ rebellious wife, as reported by Variety. Howard, the former co-star of Empire, and Craig Brewer, who is now directing this new series are expected to be joined by Henson.

The show’s logline states: “The infamous account of how an armed robbery during Muhammad Ali’s 1970 comeback fight changed the life of a man and transformed countless lives across ten cities.

Empire’s abrupt ending disheartened many fans

Empire came on Fox in 2015 and had a good run of six seasons until 2020. It was an outstanding American television series. The intriguing storyline along with the talented cast quickly made it a hit.

The show had millions of in a chokehold who turned in every week to see the latest drama unfold. The series portrayed the story of the Lyon family and their music empire, where Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard were the lead actors.

Empire received generally positive reviews, particularly for its first few seasons over the years. However, the COVID-19 pandemic made the show to an end.

Fans were extremely sad that the production shut down before a proper series finale could be made. A lot of fans who had followed the show for years were disappointed and were eagerly anticipated to be blown away with a good conclusion.

Howard played the role of Lucious Lyon, and he was one of the show’s main characters. He continued to pursue his acting career. He turned out to be a decent actor as he was seen in several other productions, which included The Best Man: The Final Chapter, Triumph, and the period drama The Walk. His works showcased his versatility as an actor and his determination to move on from the unfortunate end of the Empire.

Taraji P. Henson, whose character was loved by many

Henson, another one of the more popular faces from Empire, has also gone on to star in several shows and films, the most recent being the award-winning The Color Purple, which earned her a lot of praise for her astute portrayal of Shug Avery. While Henson and Howard were pretty successful before being cast in Empire, the show served as a springboard for some of the other cast members.

What the other actors of the Empire did 

Gray and Grace Byers, both played major roles in Empire. However, they saw no major acting experience before being cast on the show. After the show ended, Grace went on to appear in Harlem and the black comedy slasher The Blackening, while the other is expected to feature in Dutch 2: Angel’s Revenge. Trai Byers, who played Andre Lyon and is married to Grace, pursued co-writing and starred in the historical drama film The 24th.
