US Gun Market: A Safety Measure or A Threat?

The American society is infamous for being a prominent buyer of firearms. From police officials to local residents, citizens of America have easier access to firearms and ammunition, in comparison to foreigners.

However, easier access doesn’t always mean better security. In recent years, there has been a growing concern among individuals who legally own firearms and are residents of the New York State. This concern stems from multiple reports and news articles that claim that in the near future, ammunition prices might skyrocket, and availability of firearms may be limited to the general public.

New Gun Laws For NYC 

Last weekend, a large gun show was organized in the fairgrounds of Hamburg, New York. Thousands of eager buyers and sellers stormed the event in order to buy, trade, and sell ammunition, firearms, and other weaponry items like military collectibles.

However, due to frequent changes introduced by the state government, a fresh wave of concern has passed through firearm owners and dealers of New York. The dealers, buyers, and owners of the New York State are constantly adjusting to new laws that are being imposed upon them. As the geographical region is slowly approaching the 11th anniversary of the famous NY SAFE Act being put in regulation, firearm lovers across the state might want to start preparing for a gunpowder shortage in the near future.

According to records released by Vista Outdoor, a recognized parent company to numerous firearm businesses across the state, firearm collectors and dealers should gear up for a price hike in its ammunition prices due to an expected global shortage of gunpowder.

According to the handgun laws and regulations, individuals who possess a pistol permit are required to renew their registration with the State within a time span of a few years. The New York State Police took to their official X account and informed firearms owners across the state about the recently introduced changes to the State’s gun policy.

US Gun Violence: Is It Here to Stay Forever?

Through the post, owners, dealers and collectors of firearms and other sorts of weaponry were informed that to help transition from the five-year recertification requirement to the new three-year requirement, individuals who possessed a concealed carry permit issued before September 1, 2020, will have until August 31, 2023, to recertify the permit.

In addition to this, those individuals who were issued a concealed carry permit or recertified their permit after September 1, 2020, they will not come under the newly introduced law. These individuals will not have to recertify under the new law before August 31, 2023. Anybody under this second group must wait to recertify until the third year after permit issuance or their last recertification.

As the world enters into a new year, firearm owners across the New York State must also begin a new cycle of renewing their permits.

The new law introduced in the year 2022, carrying of guns insensitive locations like schools, government buildings, places of worship and Times Square were banned by the government. Furthermore, the law also asked people wish to carry guns in public, display a “good moral character,” as determined by local licensing officials.
