Former NFL Player Ronald Powell Passes Away Due to Undisclosed Reason

In a recent turn of unfortunate events, former New Orleans Saints linebacker Ronald Powell passed away at the young age of 32. The heartbreaking news was announced to the public by the NFL Players Association, on Tuesday. The cause of death is still a mystery to Powell’s fans as they mourn the untimely demise of the famous player. The University of Florida also took to its official social media account and acknowledged Powell’s death. Powell had actively played for the Gators from 2010 to 2013.

Rumors regarding Powell’s death had been making rounds on social media since Monday. These rumors were given more fire when a former Saints teammate of Powell, Junior Galette, publicly confirmed Powell’s death on social media. The next day, on Tuesday, the NFL Players Association also confirmed the unfortunate news, imposing a complete stop to all the fake news articles and rumors regarding Ronald Powell.

Powell’s Career as a Football Player

Powell was introduced to the world of NFL as a “highly coveted high school player” from the state of California. He was one of the top national recruits from the 2010 class. He had initially signed with Urban Meyer-coached Florida. Throughout his career as a player for the Gators, Powell had secured a total of 18.5 tackles for loss, which included 11 sacks. He was absent for the 2012 campaign due to a prior ACL tear that he had experienced during the spring.

In addition to this, Powell had gained recognition after he was picked in the fifth round by the New Orleans team, in the year 2014. In that season, Powell was present as a player for 14 games for the Saints. In addition to this, he had also recorded one solo tackle and one assist in the season. The Saints released him before the start of the 2015 season due to him experiencing a severe knee injury.

During this period of recovery, Powell had stints on the practice squads of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears. Ultimately, he was signed with the Seattle Seahawks in the year 2016, although he never played a game for the team. He was officially removed from the league in 2017. He didn’t play in another NFL game.

A Short but Rich Legacy 

Powell previous tea took to social media to express their grief over the player’s sudden demise. The team released an official statement, extending their “thoughts and prayers” to “his family and loved ones.”

Before his unfortunate demise, Powell had made one last return to the world of football in 2019. He had played for the Orlando Apollos of the Alliance of American Football. Powell’s former Saints teammate, Junior Galette also expressed his grief for the player’s death. Galette expressed his admiration for Powell by remembering him as “an excellent father, respected brother, and a loving son.”

Although the cause of Powell’s sudden death is still being heavily discussed across various social media platforms, no official statement has been released from either the authorities investigating his death, or from Powell’s family members, close friends, or associates.
